Education:

November 2018 Completed a seven week training course Creative Exchanges, run by Age and Opportunity at IMMA, with a focus on the theory and methodology of of arts facilitation in care settings for elderly people. (Accreditation to be received in January).

2012-2014, Awarded a Masters of Fine Art, NCAD.

2012 BA in Fine Art Painting from NCAD, achieving Honours Degree 2-1.

2006 to 2007 Trained in Authentic Movement, a therapeutic approach to embodiment, with Joan Davies, in Gorsehill, Greystones..

2000 Completed a six month training Course: Approaches To Arts in The Community, focused on Augusto Boal’s “Theatre of the Oppressed” at DKIT, Dundalk .

1992 to 1994 Completed FETAC Course in Fine Art at Larkin Community School, Dublin.

1984 to 1989 Two year course achieving Diplomas in Counselling (IICH) and two year course in Yoga Teaching (Irish Yoga Association) in Dublin.

1979 to 1983 Language and Translation training, achieving High Honours Diplomas in English and translation from and into Italian, Spanish and English from The Escuela de Idiomas de Madrid and The Cambridge Language Institute.

1966 to 1978 Primary Education in Rome, Italy and Secondary Education in Gran Canaria Spain, successfully completing Selectividad, the Spanish equivalent of the Leaving Cert.

Employment:
Yoga/Embodiment/Therapeutic work

Teaching Yoga, Movement and Embodiment Practices in a variety of settings, with groups and individuals from 1989 to the present, including Portlaoise Prison from 1994 to 1998, Women’s Aid Dundalk in 2000, corporate yoga and yoga in the workplace, and teaching primary, secondary and third level students both in Dublin and in Co Louth from 1990 to the present.Teaching yoga to service users of Enable Ireland in Dublin and facilitating workshops for MS Ireland.

Training Yoga Teachers for the Irish Yoga association from 1989 to 1995, including the designing the IYA teacher training course to successfully meet the standards of the European Union of Yoga.
Currently running classes and workshops in Dublin.

Mediator work

2008 to 2016 Working as a mediator at the Irish Museum of Modern Art; duties included invigilation, knowledge and awareness relevant to each exhibition, the daily setting of video and audio equipment and visitor interaction and information.

Arts facilitation

2016 to 2018 Working as a member of the Visitor Engagement Team at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, designing and facilitating tours and workshops to with a variety of audiences with the objective of fostering engagement with the art displayed at IMMA. Examples of workshops run include;

A participative workshop on performance art with Studio 10, a group of mature attendees at IMMA. (2016)

A secular coming of age session for non religious secondary school students, using art processes and group dynamics (mandala making in this case) as a way of marking a life change. (2017)

Yoga in The Museum; A session for IMMA After, a group of people aged 20-30, involving a tour of the recent Monir exhibition followed by a yoga class in the gallery highlighting the thematic of light and geometry present in Monir’s work (2018)

Open House Junior 2017 and 2018: Working with a group of teenagers in a performative way to experience and articulate the links between history, architecture and everyday life.

Facilitated tours in Italian of several exhibitions at IMMA.

2007 to 2011 Teaching art in disability centres including Walkinstown Association and Gheel Autism Services Milltown. Organising and curating exhibitions of WALK and GHEEL service users’ work in Rathmines library .

2006 to 2007 Community Arts facilitator with Arklink, an arts project for children in Fatima Mansions, in collaboration with The Ark, in Temple Bar, Dublin.

2014, Performance with Fiona Quilligan and Nigel Wood at Soma Contemporary in Waterford
2013, Performance in Pallas Projects as part of solo exhibition. A collaborative interaction with a dancer and a DJ was the focus of this piece which took place as part of Visit 2013.
2013, Performative Drawing as a direct response to live band, Dublin Afrobeat Ensemble, at The Twisted Pepper, Dublin.
2012 Performed with Choreographer Fiona Quilligan and Artist Kirsten Simpson at the opening of Illuminant exhibition in Dublin.

2011, Performative Drawing, Three hour drawing performance as a direct and uninterrupted response to the live musical performance of fifteen musicians and bands, at The Shed, Dublin.
2010 Notes From The Underworld, Shown in The Back Loft, Dublin, and In Teatro San Giovanni, Rome, in Collaboration with musician Maria Laura Ronzoni. Featured a set of projected drawings based on excerpts from Dante’s Divine Comedy as a backdrop to Maria Laura’s performance.
