Our Good Friday bonfire shot...is it art?
We had a secular ceremony for my baby grand daughter and a bonfire party on good Friday. Among the objects that people threw on the fire was this cross, which a friend immolated as a symbol of his defecting from the Catholic Church. I think the images, which were sent to me by friends after the event, are powerful, and, since it nearly cost me my relationship with my old mother (someone thought I was running a satanic ritual and weird news travel fast) I feel entitled to claiming partial ownership of this spontaneous, collaborative ritualistic performance and of the resulting images. The cross incidentally was a pre christian symbol, a pagan one at that, representing the four seasons of the year and the tree of life.
